Battling to the end

Lead Summary

As she talked to her team before the third set on Tuesday, Nashua-Plainfield volleyball coach Amber Carter had one message for her Huskies.   “Play for Sierra,” she said of her team’s lone senior, Sierra Fisher. “She’s our only senior, and let’s give her a little more volleyball.”   The Huskies did just that, and although they would fall in four sets — 25-18, 25-13, 24-26, 25-13 — to St. Ansgar, they did give their senior a little more volleyball.   “I think we showed our potential that game,” Carter said after her team bowed out of the Class 2A regional tournament and finished the season 5-20.   “If we played like that all the time ... but at the same time, I know we’re really young and really inexperienced. Our girls came a long way this year, and this was a foundation year for us.”   More on the story may be found in the Oct. 20 Reporter.
