Betty Bailey dies at 81

Betty Bailey, 81, died Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Lane Purcell Hospice House in Sumterville, Fla. after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. 
Betty Jane Curtis was born July 11, 1935 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of William and Elsie Curtis.  Betty attended and graduated from Solvay High School in 1953.  On July 18, 1953 she married Richard Bailey in Solvay, NY.  They lived in Silver Bay, Minn. where they raised three daughters: Linda, Julie, and Micki.  Betty worked in various service and retail jobs throughout the years and was very active in her church and also helping with her children’s activities. Betty enjoyed playing volleyball, shuffleboard, bingo, riding her bike, knitting, crocheting, and quilting, and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren, and sisters. 
Betty is survived by three daughters: Linda (Tim) Trewin of New Hampton, Julie (Joel) Meirick of Protivin, and Micki (Gary) Pecinovsky of Protivin; six grandchildren: Alyssa Vondersitt, Derek Nelson, Alex and Nicholas Meirick, Kristy Griffin and Clint Reinking; six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and one sister: Carol Smith of Bushnell, FL.  
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three sisters.  Graveside services for Betty J. Bailey of Bushnell, Fla and formerly of Silver Bay, Minn. will be held at 11 a.m. on July 11, 2017 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.  Joel Ferry is the officiant. Purcell Funeral Home in Bushnell, Fla. is handling the arrangements.
