Chickasaw girls fall to Crestwood

Lead Summary

What started out to be a hectic week has turned into one in which the Chickasaw girls may only play on Monday and Saturday.
While the team was gathering to travel to Waverly for a doubleheader Wednesday, it was raining in Waverly and the games were first pushed back an hour, then postponed. They will now be played at Waverly on Monday (June 25).
Thursday’s home doubleheader against Charles City was also postponed, the Comets will now be come to New Hampton on Wednesday, June 27 instead of previously scheduled North Fayette Valley.
“I’m afraid we’re going to have two rainouts,” said coach Jack Seelhammer. “I’m not sure about playing at Linn-Mar Friday. They have tarps and stuff, so we’ll see. If they cancel Friday we may just be playing three games on Saturday.”
New Hampton saw an end to a winning streak Monday as it was defeated by Crestwood, 7-3.
“It wasn’t our best game,” said the coach. “[Crestwood pitcher Laken] Lienhard throws hard and had a good change up. We just didn’t hit that good, but we only had one error.”
The rest of the story may be found in the June 22 Tribune.
