Chickasaw girls give Cedar Falls heck of a battle

Lead Summary

Forget the final margin, New Hampton girls basketball coach Chad Pemble had every reason to be proud of his Chickasaws Saturday night.
Yes, Cedar Falls came away with a 66-50 non-conference victory, but New Hampton gave the Class 5A sixth-ranked Tigers fits, especially in the first half.
“I loved the effort our girls gave, and I loved the way they didn’t back down,” New Hampton coach Pemble said. “That’s a really good team over there. When you only have one loss with the schedule they play, that’s saying something.”
Yet, New Hampton came to play, despite being a decided underdog.
Maddi Moorman had eight points in the first quarter  to help New Hampton build a 15-13 lead after eight minutes of play.
