Chickasaw girls head into break with momentum

Lead Summary

The long Christmas break, in which the Chickasaw girls only compete with each other in practice, was cut shorter by a day when the Border Battle game from last Saturday was postponed to Tuesday, a day after New Hampton played at Independence. Both games ended with New Hampton wins, 60-35 against Independence and 52-39 against Mabel-Canton.    Even though the Border Battle game against the Minnesota school wasn’t important in terms of conference standings, there’s many reasons why coach Matt Schult was glad to get it in.    “With our break coming up, it gave us some good game experience,” he said. “Our January is pretty jam-packed so it’s nice that it worked out this way.”    The game was played at Luther College, another plus.  The rest of the story may be found in the Dec. 23 Tribune.
