Chickasaws bounce back to get split with Cadets

Lead Summary

“X” marks the spot.
For the New Hampton baseball team, that means a substantially sized bulls-eye rests on the back of every red and black Chickasaw jersey that takes to the field this summer.
Chickasaw head coach Cory McDonald is just fine with those high expectations put forth on his talented team.
In fact he relishes the role.
“Oh, by the way, we have a target on our back, which we love. Everybody’s gunning for you - good. This is what we’ve always wanted,” said McDonald.
And a trio of teams hit that target last week as the Chickasaws went 2-3 — splitting NEIC doubleheaders with Charles City and Crestwood and dropping a non-conference tilt with Clear Lake.
