Chickasaws compete at NEIC meet

Lead Summary

No matter what, coach Jamie Quass always finds positive things to say about her runners.    So even though the Chickasaws trailed the field of six in the Northeast Iowa Conference on both the boys and the girls side, the coach had nice things to say.    She did, however, have plenty to work with, as there were 12 runners that finished with their best career times.    “I may not have a voice tomorrow, but it was worth it!!” Quass continued, “My runners never cease to amaze me!! Before the meet, we had a pow-wow and I reminded them that for some, this is their last high school meet.”    The coach also recalled one of her favorite running quotes. “The first mile you run with your head, the second mile you run with your gut and the third mile you run with your heart! I'm proud to say they all did that tonight!!”         Decorah won both varsity meets — and both JV meets for that matter — as their numbers are overwhelming.    The Chickasaws’ Nolan Usher finished as an all-conference runner for the second straight year as the sophomore improved from his 2015 finish of 17:49 and 12th place. This year he was 11th with a career-best time of 17:21.  For all the New Hampton results, please see the Oct. 14 Tribune.
