Chickasaws give Crestwood battle

Lead Summary

New Hampton senior Paige Wisner admitted to being exhausted after Tuesday night’s loss to Crestwood. Despite the best efforts from the New Hampton girls, the Cadets lived up to their No. 13 ranking as they opened up a second-quarter lead and defeated the Chickasaws 47-33.
The game plan for the Chickasaws was to keep the ball out of the hands of University of Iowa commit Sharon Goodman.
“We kinda just tried to guard their wings to keep them from getting the ball to her,” said Wisner of the 6-3 Goodman. “Her wing span is a bit bigger than ours was, so we had to deal with that.”
Early in the game, it looked like it could be a long night for the Chickasaws as Crestwood jumped out to an 8-0 lead.
“I wasn’t really worried,” Wisner said. “In the first couple of minutes we have to find our groove, we score points after that.”
A Wisner assist to Maddi Moorman scored the first points of the game and a Wisner basket cut the Cadet lead in half shortly after that.
