Chickasaws go deep to beat Osage, advance to district final

Lead Summary

New Hampton came into Wednesday night’s Class 2A district semifinal game with one home run this season.
It departed the game with four home runs and a trip to the district title game Saturday.
Hunter Pesek led off the game against Osage with a home run and then Conner Rochford and Will Clark went yard back-to-back in the second inning as the Chickasaws rolled to a 10-2 win to set up a Saturday date with Sumner-Fredericksburg, which beat Crestwood 3-2 in a rain-shortened game Tuesday night.
The Chickasaws played one of their best games of the season. Rochford pitched into the seventh inning, giving up just four hits, and the defense was solid behind him as Pesek made a couple of great running catches in center while the Chickasaws also turned a double play.
New Hampton improved to 10-9 and is in a district final for a 10th straight season. Saturday’s game is set for 7 p.m. at Mikkelson Park in New Hampton.
