Chickasaws, Trojans take advantage of ‘lovely day’ to run

Lead Summary

It’s a scenario that’s all too familiar. Fall is here, and so are the rains. But before the New Hampton Invitational was cancelled — again — both the Chickasaws and Turkey Valley had a nice evening competing at the South Winn meet Tuesday.
“That was a wonderful, lovely night, you couldn’t ask for a better day,” Chickasaw coach Kristy Manson said. “And if we would have had a sunny day Thursday, we might have been able to host our meet, but when we drove to the course there was still water at the starting line. My husband and I have been here four years and we’ve had one meet at New Hampton.”
The Tuesday meet — which just ran all of the high school girls in one race and all the boys in another — was very competitive, especially since Decorah was there.
