Coed runners have high goals

Lead Summary

New Hampton’s Jake Usher and Turkey Valley’s Wyatt Blazek are obviously two different runners.  One, Usher, is a middle-distance and long distance runner; the other is a sprinter.  But both seniors had banner nights for their respective teams on Thursday night at the New Hampton Coed and both have the same goals — to end their seasons at Drake Stadium next month.  On Thursday evening at the New Hampton Coed Invitational, Usher led off the Chickasaws’ winning 4x800 relay and anchored the distance medley to a victory while Blazek rallied to win the 100 and 200 and led off the Trojans’ winning 4x200 relay team.  But they’re focused on the future.  “I think we can still finish pretty high in the conference,” Usher said, “and for me, I’m excited for our 4x800 team. I can’t wait to see what we can do.”  For the full story, please see the April 18 Tribune.
