CWC to remain closed until June

Lead Summary

Although Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced last Monday that 77 counties - including Chickasaw - in Iowa could reopen their restaurants, fitness centers, retail stores and malls at 50-percent capacity, the Chickasaw Wellness Complex (CWC) is deciding to keep their doors closed for the month of May before planning to open on June 1.
“Our board had a long meeting when we decided to shut down in the first place as well as a long discussion after Gov. Reynolds announced the option to reopen. We decided as a group to hold out and make sure that the CWC is prepped with the proper cleaning and safety measures as well as having strict new policies and procedures in place,” CWC director Emily Kleiss said.
“These changes aren’t going to be ideal for anyone, but we hope that if we wait just a little longer, then the chance of us having to close again will be reduced, and we can go through our phases smoothly to get back to normal.”
