Decision on summer sports will be made by June 1

Lead Summary

The two athletic associations that oversee high school sports in Iowa are taking a wait-and-see approach when it comes to this summer’s 2020 baseball and softball seasons.
But in a joint statement released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls Athletic Union, the associations indicated that they will make a decision on or before June 1.
New Hampton Activities Director Brad Schmitt said Northeast Iowa Conference activity directors have met via telephone and Zoom to discuss how the summer sports season would work if it’s delayed.
