"Dennis was the caliber of person that everyone should aspire to be. His ambitions and efforts took him from being a United States Marine to a foundry worker, construction worker, and ultimately retiring from John Deere's Product Engineering Center.
In 2020 he was awarded the IFAs highly coveted 'Best Fisherman Who Ever Lived in the Entire Universe Ever Award' for the 59th straight year! He loved his wife, his family, and his dogs with a ferocity and dedication that few could ever match. He Loved the outdoors (especially fishing), playing Cornhole, listening to televisions at absurdly loud volumes at all hours, and laughing hysterically at his own extended version jokes.
After his death, he will not only become a frequent part of many peoples best-ever memories, but also a true Legend. He will be missed eternally, and Loved for even longer."
Dennis is survived by his wife, Mary Buckendahl of New Hampton, IA; two sons, Ryan Buckendahl of Minneapolis, MN, Craig Buckendahl of Mason City, IA; three grandchildren, Payton (Anthony) Johnston of Floyd, IA, Eric (Makenzee) Buckendahl of Silverdale, WA, Kaylee Buckendahl of Cedar Rapids, IA; five great-grandchildren, Mia Buckendahl, Ayden Johnston, Avery Johnston, Amelia “Toots” Johnston, Alani Johnston; three brothers, Leo “Michael” (Dorothy) Buckendahl of Sumner, IA, Doug (Lou) Buckendahl of Kalama, WA, Gerry (Loras) Fox of Medford, WI; one sister, Patti (Marion) Bush of Fredericksburg, IA;
