Eleonora M. Vohsman dies at 90

Eleonora M. Vohsman age 90 of Waverly, formerly of Nashua, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua with Chaplain Allen Bidne officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua with David Campos, Mark Campos, Callie Campos, Curt Mennenga, Chad Mennenga, and Calvin Mennenga serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Julie Vohsman and Lynette Vohsman.Friends may greet the family 4 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed towards the donors choice.  Online condolences for Eleonora's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.comEleonora Mary Vohsman was born Sept. 28, 1926, in rural Waverly, the daughter of Emil and Lille (Mensching) Lohmann. She attended country schools near Waverly through the 8th grade. Eleonora started working at a corn canning factory in Waverly while she helped farm the family farm. On Sept. 6, 1950, in Nashua, she married Bernard "Ted" Vohsman. To this union four children; Roger, Diane, Kathy, and Linda were born. The couple farmed on the Vohsman family farm east of Nashua. Eleonora was an integral part of the day to day farming operations and had a passion for crop production and tending to her livestock. Eleonora moved back to her family farm where she was born and raised.Eleonora enjoyed dancing, flowers, polka, crocheting, mowing lawn, and tending to her animals. She was fond of horses and enjoyed driving a team of work horses. Eleonora spent time as a local 4-H leader, She cherished time spent with her family especially her grandchildren. Eleonora is survived by one son, Roger (Lynette) Vohsman of Nashua; three daughters, Diane (Mark) Campos of Dallas, Texas, Kathy Vohsman of Waverly, Linda (Calvin) Mennenga of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Julie Vohsman, David Campos, Callie Campos, Curt Mennenga, and Chad Mennenga; in-laws, LaVon Lohmann of Independence; Gus Frascht of Charles City, Dick (Jane) Vohsman of Waterloo, Phyllis (Charlie) O'Neill of Nashua, Rosie (Dave) Meek of Marble Rock.She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Bernard "Ted" in 1977; brother, Lavern Lohmann; sister, Arlene Liddle; in-law,Leonard Liddle, Lawrence (Edith) Vohsmann, Lucille (Clarence) Shinstine, Jo Frascht.
