Elinor D. Kist age 86 of New Hampton died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 at Harvest Church in New Hampton with Pastor Sam Jones of the Faith Baptist Church in Hudson, officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Kist, William Kist, Christian Kist, Andrew Sage, Scott Smith and Michael Tahmasian. Interment will be at a later date. Friends may greet the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Kist was born April 5, 1930, in New Hampton, the daughter of William and Bertha (Leonard) Davis. She received her education in New Hampton and graduated from the New Hampton High School in 1948. She married Kenneth D. Kist on Sept. 11, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in New Hampton, where she was a lifelong resident. Elinor was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her countless batches of chocolate chip and decorated sugar cookies. She enjoyed spending summers at the pool throughout her life and took pleasure in sharing that experience with her grandchildren. As a devoted member of the Baptist church, she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She worked at the library for many years; following that she volunteered for the Carnegie Cultural Center.Survivors include five children, Steven Kist of Audubon; Cynthia (Mark) Sage of Grand Rapids, Minn; Cathryn (Doyle) Honstad of Pine Island, Minn; Candace (Norek) Tahmasian of Rochester, Minn; Brian (Paula) Kist of Thief River Falls, Minn; ten grandchildren; Andrew Sage, Sarah Sage, Elizabeth (Scott Smith) Sage, Cara Wubbenhorst, Michael Tahmasian, Precious Tahmasian, Christian (Stephanie) Kist, Michael Kist, William Kist and Victoria Kist; two great-grandchildren, Conway and Elinor Smith.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, four sisters, and a grandson Alexander Tahmasian.
