Fast start leads to New Hampton rout

Lead Summary

Any worries that New Hampton might be a little rusty on Monday night were quickly erased.  The Chickasaws, who hadn’t practiced since Thursday because of the weekend storm, put up 47 first-half points on their way to a 73-44 non-conference victory over North Fayette Valley.  “I think the guys learned the value of moving the ball around,” coach Chad Sweitzer said after his team improved to 2-3. “I couldn’t be happier with the way we started that game.       When you pass the ball a lot, get the defense moving, all of a sudden you get a lot of open shots.”   New Hampton finished the game shooting 61.2 percent from the field as it hit 30 of 49 shots. And the Chickasaws were almost as good from 3-point range as they knocked down 9 of 16 (56.3 percent) of their shots beyond the arc.  More details on the win may be found in the Dec. 23 Tribune.
