Gertrude "Trudy" Freidinger dies at 85

Gertrude "Trudy" Freidinger, 85, of Mount Vernon, Ill. passed away at 2:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ill. She was born Wednesday, July 29, 1931 in New Hampton, to parents, Walter and Hazel (Maske) Weidler.  She married Reverend George D. Freidinger on Dec. 27, 1953 in New Hampton, and he preceded her in death on October 14, 2002. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Pastor Cindy Krause officiating.  Burial will be at Boyd Cemetery. A Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton.  Morning Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 at the church.  Online condolences for Trudy’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com.  Trudy is survived by her three daughters: Ruth Taylor and husband Perry of Rochester, Ill.; Karen Young and husband Stuart of Lisle, Ill.; and Diane Pierce and husband Don of Ames, seven grandchildren: Michael Taylor; David Taylor; Daniel Young; Christine Young; Kati Young; Ash Pierce; and Josh Pierce, brother: Dr. Donald Weidler of Kentucky, sister: Beverly Taylor and husband LaRue of Arizona, and sister-in-law: LuAnn Shaw and husband Millard of Peoria, Ill.  Several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents and husband preceded her in death. Trudy worked as a Head Start teacher for over 20 years and was a very active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, Ill. where she sang in the choir and served on several church committees.  She was a member of the Jefferson County 4-H Extension and loved spending time with her grandchildren who were the joy of her life. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon or Saint John's Boyd Cemetery in New Hampton.
