Grinding to the very end

Lead Summary

The most historic high school baseball season in New Hampton history has finally come to an end.
“I think what this team did shows the character of New Hampton. When I say New Hampton, I’m not just talking about our students, but our community,” coach Cory McDonald said. “Use the word grind, and that’s New Hampton.”
The Chickasaws entered the state baseball tournament as the three seed. However, they were topped by the sixth seeded West Sioux Falcons by a score of 7-2 on Monday evening at Principal Park in Des Moines during the Class 2A state tournament quarterfinals.
“It was a great experience. It was a blast. We had fun for the couple of days we were here,” Keegan Kane said. “It was fun up until the last out.”
