Heying’s ‘perfect 75’ helps NH shooters to big win

Lead Summary

A perfect 50 didn't win the top boys' award at Cedar Rapids Saturday — there were three boys with that score.  What Zach Heying had to do was hit 75 straight targets to take home first place in the meet hosted by Xavier. He won the 25-target shootoff as each of the other ties hit a 23.  And that wasn't the only New Hampton 50 for the day as Kennady Nie's perfect score took top honors on the girls' side.  Both Anna and Katie Holschlag scored a 45 for third place.  It was Heying's first 50 in competition this year, but Nie did the same in the first meet of the season.  Both the 50s happened to be shooting for NH Red with their best score of the year — a 242 — to win the squad competition. That makes only eight misses in 250 shots.  All of the New Hampton scores from each meet may be found inthe April 25 Tribune.
