Hilda Kelly age 101 of New Hampton, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, New Hampton with Pastor Daniel Faugstad presiding. Jane Faugstad will be the organist accompanying the congregation singing, "Abide With Me', "I'm But A Stranger Here" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". Interment will be in the New Hampton City Cemetery with Chandler Cayot, Wally Knutson, Tom Gorman, Dan Fliger, Matt Peters and Allison Peters as pallbearers.Friends may greet the family 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.  Online condolences for Hilda's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com  641-394-4334Hilda Kelly was born September 26, 1915, near Saude, in rural Chickasaw County the daughter of Otto and Hannah (Leifson) Hansen. She was baptized and confirmed at the Saude Lutheran Church. In her youth, she was a household helper to the Ed and Snick Donohue family. She attended rural school in Chickasaw County and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1934. Hilda taught in the rural schools in Chickasaw and Howard counties until her marriage to John Kelly on June 29, 1940. Since her marriage, Hilda has lived in New Hampton. She was a charter member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Hampton and has been an active member all her life. She was the last remaining charter member of that church. Hilda especially enjoyed gardening, baking, fishing in Canada and time with her family and friends.Hilda is survived by her son, Bill (Connie) Kelly of Stillwater, Minn; one daughter, Patricia Peters of Weston, Mass; five grandchildren, Laura (Tom) Gorman, Anjie (Chandler) Cayot, Jim (Wendi) Kelly, all of Woodbury, MN, Matthew Peters and Allison Peters both of Boston, Mass; four great-grandchildren, Hannah Cayot, Katie Kelly, Caroline Cayot and Matthew Kelly.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John H. Kelly on September 2, 2001; one brother, Darius Hansen; two sisters, Thelma Halvorson and a sister in infancy; and step-father, Martin Borlaug.
