Hoops Club is ready to welcome back alumni

    It wasn’t that the Chickasaw Hoops Club didn’t find its annual golf outing to be a fun, enjoyable or even a profitable fundraiser.    But something was missing.    “We honestly didn’t get a lot of former basketball players back,” said Hoops Club member Bruce Zwanziger. “We’d get a good turnout, but we were looking for a way to get former New Hampton basketball players back.”    And the club thinks it has one: An alumni tournament that will be played on Aug. 19 at the high school gymnasium.    The entry fee is $25 per player and includes a tournament t-shirt for those pre-registered by Aug. 1 and admission to the Pub at the Pinicon for an evening social that begins at 7 p.m. that Saturday night.    For those who would like to attend the social, which is open to anyone in the community, the admission is $15.And while the Hoops Club is hoping to attract former players, the tournament is open to all New Hampton High School graduates, regardless of age or basketball experience.
