World Food Prize Institute life-changer for student

Lead Summary

Hannah Heit quite honestly didn’t know where to begin when asked to describe the recent World Food Prize Global Youth Institute. But the New Hampton High School junior knows that the recent three-day institute was a life-changing event.Oh, her dream — one that took shape when she was in elementary school — of one day becoming a veterinarian hasn’t changed.“I don’t want to gush,” she said, “but it was an amazing experience, an eye-opening experience. The people I met, the problems that they’re tackling, how can I not say it changed me.”The institute drew more than 200 students from 30 states and seven countries and took place during the Borlaug Dialogue International Symposium, which attracted 1,500 people from more than 60 countries to discuss hunger and food security issues in the world. For the complete story see the 11/4/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
