Jerald L. Bilharz age 69 of Nashua died Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016, at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua with Chaplain Brad Wysomierski presiding. Interment will be held in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City, with Whitney Bond, Bryce Bilharz, Zachary Bond, Brooklyn Bilharz, Blaine Bilharz, and Jaycie Bilharz serving as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Jerald Lee Bilharz was born Nov. 17, 1947, in Charles City, the son of Clair and Mildred (Altenburg) Bilharz. Jerald received his education in Charles City, and was a 1967 graduate of Charles City High School. He was drafted into the United States Army and serving during the Vietnam war from 1967 - 1969. During his deployment Jerald worked as a welder fixing and building numerous things. Upon his return he was united in marriage to Linda Wedeking on July 10, 1970, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua. To this union three children were born. The couple later divorced. Jerald began employment at Nashua Five Star Co-Op working there for several years. He started a new job working at Hobson Brothers Mold in Shell Rock working as a welder. On May 30, 1987, Jerald was united in marriage to Diane Cero at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union one child was born. The couple later divorced. Jerald starting working for Nashua Welding. He worked for the company for ten years. He then started as a Welder for New Hampton Metal Fab working there until his retirement. Jerald enjoyed cutting wood, taking great pride in his garden, making sauerkraut, Farmall tractors, hunting and fishing, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Nashua Fire Department, and the Nashua VFW. Jerald is survived by three sons, Brian (Brenda) Bilharz of Nashua, Jeremy (Kaylee) Bilharz of Nashua, Cody (Christie Paulsen) Bilharz of Nashua; one daughter, Michelle (Jason Moeller) Bond of Nashua; six grandchildren, Whitney Bond, Bryce Bilharz, Zachary Bond, Brooklyn Bilharz, Blaine Bilharz, and Jaycie Bilharz; six brothers, Richard (Sharon) Bilharz of Billings, MT, Ronald (Janet) Bilharz of Nashua, Robert (Debbie) Bilharz of Nashua, Randall Bilharz of Charles City, James (Bonnie) Bilharz of Little Falls, Minn., and Danny (Patty) Bilharz of Nashua; two sisters, Joan Bilharz of Sulfur Springs, Texas, Susan (Paul) Sedgewick of Charles City. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Ronald Bilharz Jr.; sister-in-law, Starline Bilharz.
