Leibold’s monster night lifts Turkey Valley boys

Lead Summary

It’s as if Ethan Leibold has taken a liking to the number 33.
Wearing the number 33, the Turkey Valley junior scored 33 points against Central Tuesday to lead his team to its second consecutive conference win. His best game last year came in the second week of December — he scored 33 that night as well.
“Tonight the game started out by each team going back and forth,” coach Chris Sullivan said of the 64-47 road win. “Elkader was doing a good job of moving the ball within our zone and was getting a lot of good looks so we had to switch defenses up.”
The Trojans led 12-9 after a quarter and the lead at the half was still slim at 30-25.
“In the first half we moved the ball well and got good looks but didn’t get enough stops,” the coach continued. “In the second half we made another defensive adjustment and our defense was suffocating in the second half and even on the shots they made, we were right there.”
The Trojans took advantage of the stifling defense by going on a big run in the third quarter.
