Maxine Volker age 87 of Frederika, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church, Frederika with Rev. Kurt Snyder presiding. Interment will be in the church cemetery.Friends may greet the family 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Online condolences for Maxine's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.comMaxine Helen Volker was born near Frederika, IA, on the Bahlmann family farm in rural Bremer County, the daughter of Herman and Helen (Bergman) Bahlmann. She received her education in rural country school and was a 1947 graduate of the Frederika High School.  On Jan. 19, 1948, at St. John Lutheran Church, Frederika, Maxine was united in marriage to Roy Louis Volker. To this union a son, Robert was born.  Maxine and Roy worked side-byside on the farm for many years. The couple milked cow, raised pigs and chickens as well. Maxine worked at the Tripoli Egg factory for years and then at the Fredericksburg Egg Factory. She also worked at the former Richman Café in Frederika and the Frederika Locker. Roy Volker died on July 21, 2012 at the age of 84.Maxine is survived by her only son, Robert (Pat) Volker of New Hampton; two children, Faron (Tracy) Swehla of Kearney, MO and Jackie (Jimmy) Lemke of New Hampton; five grandchildren, Tyler Swehla, Brianna Swehla, Dillon Swehla, Logan Finnegan and Lola Lemke; one brother, Virgil Bahlmann of Clermont; one sister, LaDonna Lampe of Waverly.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Kyle DeVries; three sisters, Iola Buchholtz, Ruth Rosol and Eldora Hagan; one brother, Stanley Bahlmann.
