Muriel C. Reetz, age 79, of Elma, IA passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Colonial Manor in Elma, IA.
Funeral services for Muriel will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 1, 2019 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Elma, IA with Pastor Daird Korth officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.  Online condolences may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to Muriel’s family.
Muriel Clarene was born on July 21, 1940 to Alvie and Gertrude (Attleson) Johnson on the Johnson family farm in Jerico, IA.  As a child, her family moved to a farm in rural Elma where Muriel attended and graduated from Elma High School.  After graduation, she began working at The Uptown in Charles City.  On April 13, 1961, Muriel was united in marriage to Carlton Reetz, Jr.  The couple welcomed five children, Deanna, Mike, LeAnn, Brad and Stacy.  Then later divorced.  It was at that time that Muriel moved to Elma where she worked in various positions.  She is most well-known for bartending at The Blue Bird.  Her most rewarding job was caring for the residents at Colonial Manor until her retirement.  During her retirement, Muriel enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble, spending time with her family and cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events.  She loved hosting Holiday gatherings and entertaining.  She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Those left to cherish Muriel’s memory are her children, Deanna Titus, Mike (Jodi) Reetz both of Charles City, LeAnn (Dave) Durnan of New Hampton, IA, Stacy (Jen) Reetz of Appleton, WI; her daughter-in-law, Lauri Reetz of Floyd, IA; 8 grandchildren;  6 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Jim (Evelyn) Johnson of Elma, IA, Gary (Marlys) Johnson of New Hampton, JoAnn Kimble of Elma, Chuck (Marge) Johnson also of Elma, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Brad Reetz; granddaughter, Mikala Titus; great-grandson, Ethan Gates and one brother-in-law, Nick Kimble.
