N-P makes progress on the court but falls to 0-4

Lead Summary

Amber McCall doesn’t like to lose so her Nashua-Plainfield’s volleyball team’s 0-4 record gnaws at the Huskies’ coach.
But — and this is a big but — McCall saw plenty of progress last week as the Huskies got their first set wins of the season in a 3-2 loss to Northwood-Kensett and a 3-1 loss to Mason City Newman.
“I felt like we had more confidence when we were playing,” McCall said, “and even though we didn’t win either match, we got so much better as a team. We’re young, and once we get it figured out, this team is going to be pretty good, I think. It’s going to take time, but they’re moving in the direction I want them to.”
Against Northwood-Kensett, the Huskies got off to a quick start — winning the opening set 25-15 — before falling behind 2-1. But a 25-19 fourth-set win forced a deciding set that the Vikings won 15-13.
