New Hampton boys will have to experiment a bit

Lead Summary

For the first time in years, the New Hampton boys track team does not have an athlete returning with state meet experience.  The Chickasaws are also not the deepest team around, either, as coach Scott Frerichs' roster contains just 20 student-athletes.  But there's certainly talent on the track and in the field for New Hampton.  "We'll probably move kids around a little more than we have in the past," Frerichs said. "It might take us a while to find the right combinations, but there are definitely some out there."  New Hampton's strength in recent years has been found in the sprints and, at least through last year, the hurdles.  But the 2017 Chickasaws are a little different breed. On the track, New Hampton's strength appears to be in the middle and long distances as the NEIC champion 4x800 team of Jake Usher, Alex Schumacher, Nolan Usher and Keagan John returns intact.  The rest of the story may be found in the March 28 Tribune.
