NH/TV shows ‘fight’ in loss to W-SR

Lead Summary

Matt Paulus, trust us, is never going to be comfortable with a loss, much less a 51-17 defeat at the hands of Waverly-Shell Rock.
Still, the New Hampton/Turkey Valley coach found some silver linings in Thursday’s Northeast Iowa Conference loss to the Go-Hawks, who are ranked first and second byiawrestle.com and the Predicament in Class 3A, respectively.
His senior “hammers” came through with victories. His wrestlers, for the most part, stayed off their backs. And he saw some “fight” in his team.
That last part may be the most important of them all.
“I saw more fight [tonight] than I did at Independence,” he said. “No one wants to get tech falled, but you know sometimes, that’s how you help your team. You save at least one team point, and we had guys do that against some really good wrestlers.”
New Hampton/Turkey Valley dropped to 8-5 overall and 2-3 in the Northeast Iowa Conference, but for a while, the Chickasaws hung tough with the Go-Hawks.
