NH/TV wrestlers go 2-1 at quad, finish second in Minnesota

Lead Summary

Taking everything into consideration, Saturday’s Stewartville Invitational felt like a win for the New Hampton/Turkey Valley wrestling team.
Yes, the Chickasaws finished second in the team standings as Linn-Mar won the Minnesota tournament with 200 points, 16 more than New Hampton-Turkey Valley.
But New Hampton/Turkey Valley didn’t have a wrestler at two weights — 106 and 113 — and heavyweight Tom Clark was far from 100 percent because of an ankle injury.
“I thought it went really well,” New Hampton/Turkey Valley coach Nick Hemann said, “and if we had went full strength, I think we could have easily won it. But it was better, in the long run, for some of our kids to go to [Independence] and wrestle the JV tournament so I have no regrets.”
