Elinor “Elly” (Rings) Brass, age 60 of Charles City and formerly of New Hampton, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at her home.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with a 7:00 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service.

Elinor “Elly” Ann Rings was born Oct. 22, 1960, the daughter of Roger and Mary Jo (Douglas) Rings in New Hampton. 

She attended and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1979. 

After graduating, Elly worked at The Timeout and Sinclair in Charles City where young construction worker caught her eye. Brett Brass eventually asked her out to dinner and the two were inseparable. They were united in marriage on Jan. 6, 1998, in Las Vegas. 

They made their home in Charles City, where Elly worked as a postal worker until she retired in 2018. 

Elly enjoyed being outdoors whether it was spending time in her garden, or yard work. She also enjoyed playing cards, cooking and baking. Elly always made birthdays special for her entire family.

She is deeply missed by her husband, Brett Brass of Charles City; her siblings, David (Kathy) Rings of Woodward, Sandy (Randy) Tindell of New Hampton, and Jeff (Mary Jo) Rings of New Hampton; her in-laws, Doug (Penny) Brass of Iowa Falls, Sandy (Ron) Sailer of Geneva, Tom (Tami) Brass of Hampton, Mike (Amy) Brass of Chatfield, Minnesota; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Mary Jo; her brother, Randy; her parents-in-law, Edward and Anita Brass.
