Dietz shatters school record, blows away New Hampton field

Lead Summary

Brock Dietz loved the conditions — cool and wet — Thursday night; in fact, the only thing missing was the rain.     “I like it cold,” the Nashua-Plainfield senior said, “and I don’t even mind the rain. If it would have rained like it did in the girls race, it would have been perfect.”     Well, what Dietz did Thursday at the New Hampton Golf and Country Club was dang near impeccable as he torched the field to win the individual title and claim the Huskies’ cross country school record.     “Brock was amazing, and there’s just no other way to put it,” Nashua-Plainfield coach Jenn Kalainoff said after her senior completed the 5,000-meter course in 16:27, eclipsing Kevin Klobassa’s  school record in 2011 by 14 seconds. “He had that look in his eyes that said, ‘I’m going to win this thing.’ And he did.”
