Margerete Matilda (Tillman) Stammeyer dies at 84

Margerete Matilda (Tillman) Stammeyer entered into her eternal rest on Nov. 30, 2017 at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Hampton.
Margerete was born on Feb. 24, 1933 on the family farm near Lawler, to Edward and Catherine (Kipp) Tillman. She graduated from Waucoma High in 1951.
She met the love of her life Donald Stammeyer at a dance at the Starlite Ballroom in Lawler. They were married on October 2, 1951 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waucoma, and to this union fourteen children were born.
In her spare time from raising her children she worked as a dishwasher at the White House Supper Club in St. Lucas and as a custodian for Sara Lee in New Hampton where she retired.
Margerete loved to play Yahtzee, Marbles and cards with her family. She enjoyed putting puzzles together after her retirement. She would marvel at family gatherings at what her and Don had created.
She will be welcomed at Heaven's Gate by her loving husband, her daughter Susan, her parents, her sister Dorothy and brothers Joseph, Marcellus and Herbert.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Steve (Gail), Lawler, Mike (Sue), Fort Atkinson, Charlie, Calmar, Kurt, Elgin, Brian (Janette), St. Lucas and James (Patty), Ossian. Her daughters Marge (Burt) Ostert, Madison, Wisconsin, Diane (Jeff) Molokken, West Union, Donna (John) Callan, Waucoma, Angie (Sam) Smith, Era, Texas, Arlene (Ed) Molokken, West Union, Joyce (Marti) McLain, Albia, Kay (Thomas) Gardner, Elkader. Her brothers John (late Betty), Dubuque, Robert (Cynthia), Clermont, Merle (Pam), Belvidere, Illinois, and sisters, Alvera (late Marvin) Kleve, Postville and Phyllis (late Donald) Massmen, West Union. Thirty-eight grandchildren and forty-two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. with a 2:45 pm Rosary and a 3 p.m. Scripture Service on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 at St. Luke Catholic Church. St. Lucas, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before Mass at the church on Monday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at St. Luke Catholic Church, St. Lucas, Iowa with Rev. Kyle Digman as the Celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Luke Catholic Cemetery, St. Lucas.
Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, Iowa is helping the family with arrangements.
