Lurline O’Day dies at 85

Lurline O’Day age 85 passed away Saturday Dec. 2, 2017 at home.
Lurline was born Jan. 7, 1932 at Fredericksburg, the daughter of William and Pauline (Paulsen) Degner. She graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1949 and married Paul O’Day June 8, 1949 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua.
To this union, two children were born. Lurline worked for Dr. A.L.  Murphy for 16 years. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1974, she worked for Dr. C.J. Krebs for 13 years, retiring in 1987.
Surviving are daughter, Paula O’Day of Jacksonville, Fla. and son Aaron O’Day of West Des Moines. Also, a granddaughter Ashley O’Day of Des Moines. Her husband Paul O’Day passed away August 19, 2002. She leaves a brother, Harold Degner of Des Moines and 4 nephews and 4 nieces.
Preceding her in death were her parents and sisters, Evelyn Hunt, Luella Gitch, Gertrude Mikes and Ruth Gruenberg.
Lurline was of Methodist faith. She enjoyed traveling, sports, country music, trout fishing and card games. At her request she will be cremated and no services will be held.
Arrangements are under the care of National Cremation Society Jacksonville.
