Joan Ann Jones age 85 of Charles City, died Dec. 14, 2017 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.Funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home -- Olson Chapel in Nashua. Interment will be held at Sunnyside Memory Garden in Charles City with Jeremy Jones, Kris Jones, Travis Jones, Tom Curl, Tom Marpe and Greg Richards serving as pallbearers.Friends may greet the family from 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home -- Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home on Wednesday.  Online condolences for Joan Ann's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.comJoan Ann Jones was born April 13, 1932 in Stockbridge Township in Wisconsin the daughter of Alfred and Carrie (Grogan) Westenberger. She attended country school in Stockbridge Township and then graduated from Gillett High School in Gillett, Wisc. After graduating high school she moved to Chicago to help her sister, Marie, raise her children. While at work in Chicago she met her future sister-in-law who introduced her to Joe Jones. The couple were married on Dec. 8, 1956 in Charles City, to this union two children were born. Joan worked in retail for over 45 years in different businesses around Charles City. While she wasn't working retail, she was helping Joe around the farm. She was very rooted in Charles City and she was known all around town.After she retired from retail work, she enjoyed helping with the foster grandparent program at the Immaculate Conception School in Charles City. Joan also helped mentor and tutor older students at school along with the TLC children. She enjoyed walking and staying physically active. You would often see Joan walking around town or at the YMCA. Joan belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary in Nashua. She will always be remembered as a very independent and capable women.Joan is survived by two sons, John (Cindy Pralle) Jones of Ionia, Bill (Vicki) Jones of Nashua; three grandchildren, Jeremy Jones of Cedar Falls, Kris Jones of Ionia, Travis (Janel) Jones of Ionia; many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joe, on Dec. 27, 1985; four brothers, Leo, Jim, Jerry, John; four sisters, Marie, Cele, Kay, Eileen.
