Rachel Ann (Ptacek) Stone dies at 44

Rachel Ann (Ptacek) Stone passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, from complications of a brain bleed.  She had her husband, Brian, by her side.
Rachel Ann Ptacek was born on Aug. 21, 1973 in New Hampton, to Jerry and Mavis (Dohlman) Ptacek.  She attended St Joseph’s Community School for grades 1 – 8, then New Hampton High School until she graduated in 1991.  Rachel furthered her education at Allen College as a Radiological Technologist. 
She worked at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton for a couple of years, then at Waverly Health Center for the past 19 years.  Rachel has been a Mary Kay consultant for the past 19 years.    She was a Girl Scout leader for her daughter, Kasey, for the past 2 years.
Rachel married the love of her life, Brian Stone, on June 5, 2004 at St. Mary’s Church, Waverly, Iowa.  To this union, 2 children were born.  Kasey Marie on October 8, 2008 and Isaac Eugene born on March 31, 2011.
She loved going to Cadott Wisc. for the annual CountryFest with family and friends, fishing trips to Canada and Southern Iowa with family. She enjoyed shopping weekends with her sister and Mom and more shopping trips with friends.  Camping with family and friends from the area.  She was an avid walker, Hawkeye fan, and Tim McGraw fan.
Her biggest love was her family.  Rachel was an energetic, positive, hardworking person.  She always had a smile on her face.  She was a selfless person, always putting others before herself.
Surviving members include her husband, Brian, of Waverly; children, Kasey and Isaac, at home; parents Jerry and Mavis Ptacek of New Hampton; sisters – Becky (Greg) Havlik of New Hampton, Jeanie (Justin) Terwilliger and Jennifer (DeWayne) Osborn of Bondurant, Iowa; mother and father-in-law, Vallie and Shirl Stone of New Hampton, sisters-in-laws – Vicki (Steve) Daniel of Tipton, and Sammy Stone of New Hampton, brother-in-law Vallie (Jaclyn) Stone of Denver.  Nieces and nephews, Kyle and Kaeden Havlik; Tinley and Teagan Terwilliger; Sommer, Levi, and Beckham Daniel; Creyton Buhr.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Eime and Irene Dohlman and Frank and Thelma Ptacek. Her uncle, Jeff Dohlman and her aunt, RuthAnn Dohlman.
Rachel will be missed by all those that she has touched in her short life.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly, with Fr. David Ambrosy presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in New Hampton. Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 22,2017 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Memorials may be directed to the America Cancer Society and online condolences for Rachel may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
