Marie Magdalen Langreck, age 97 of St. Lucas, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton. 
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 at St. Luke Catholic Church, St. Lucas, with a two-hour visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. before Mass at the church on Monday. Rev. Daniel Knipper was the Celebrant.
Burial followed at St. Luke Cemetery, St. Lucas.
Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, Iowa is helping the family with arrangements.
Marie was born April 21, 1920, to John J. and Lena (Mihn) Langreck.  She was the second of 13 children. 
Marie attended St. Luke’s School in St. Lucas through the eighth grade.
Marie worked for families in homecare in the West Union area. 
After moving back home, she cared for her grandmother and then her parents. 
After the death of her parents, Marie farmed with her brother Louie on the farm southeast of St. Lucas. Marie suffered an injury and moved to Linn Haven, where she lived until her death.
Marie enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and entertaining in her home. 
She was member of the Rosary Society at St. Luke Catholic Church and a longtime member of Catholic Daughters.
Marie is survived by her brothers, Clem Langreck of Lawler, Charles (Mildred) Langreck of West Union, and Jerome Langreck of Lemon Grove, Calif.; sisters, Agatha Busta of Lawler, Edna Jirak of Lawler, Margaret (Martin) Gossling of Fort Atkinson, Virginia Kuhn of Fort Atkinson, and Lillian Chipera of New Hampton; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews as well as many cousins.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, John J.  and Lena Langreck; brothers, Henry (Verda) Langreck and Francis (Katherine) Langreck; sister, Beata (Raymond) Schmelzer; sisters-in-law, Bernice Langreck and Eileen Langreck; brothers-in-law, Larry Jirak, Stanley Busta, Paul Chipera and Julian Kuhn; nieces, Mary Jo Schmelzer and Deborah Jean Jirak; nephews, John Langreck, John Chipera and Conrad Langreck; one great-nephew, Lance Langreck; and two great-nieces, Sally Fagel and Allison Brannon.
