Irene C. Weigel, age 76 of New Hampton, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Patty Elwood Center in Cresco.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at Holy Family Parish in New Hampton. 
Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Hampton.
Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with a 7 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service. Visitation continued at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass on Monday.

Irene Caroline Weigel was born on March 15, 1941, to Joseph and Agnes (Bruess) Schlichte in Waucoma. 
She attended and graduated from Waucoma High School. 
On Jan. 28, 1959, Irene was united in marriage to Robert J. Weigel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waucoma. The couple made their home in New Hampton where they raised their five children — Jolene, Jeff, Janell, Jody and Janeen. 
Irene worked at St. Joseph Hospital as a nurse’s aide and finished her career in 2003 as a clinical nurse at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. 
Irene enjoyed golfing, shopping and the occasional visit to the casino. 
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, the Sunday gatherings and sharing her Gigi Bread with her great-grandchildren. 
Irene was a member of Holy Family Parish and Rosary Society.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Robert Weigel of New Hampton; her children, Jolene (Mark) Dungey of New Hampton, Jeff (Ralynn) Weigel of New Hampton, Janell (Rick) Nelson of Bloomington, Minn., Jody (Jill) Weigel of Cedar Rapids, and Janeen (Dominic) Kemp of Waterloo; their grandchildren, Chad (Sarah) Dungey, Bryan (Brooke) Dungey, Calison (Andy) Weiss, Channing (Jordan) Sorensen, Tanner Weigel, Danae Nelson, Hannah Nelson, Morgan Weigel, Rachel, Weigel, Olivia Weigel, Skylar Kemp and Shane Kemp; their 12 great-grandchildren; and Irene’s two sisters, Margaret Kleve of Waucoma and Helen Woodard of Hawkeye as well as extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Lorraine Eichenberger, Rosemary Riha and Edward Schlichte.
