Trojan girls struggle, fall to Central Elkader

Lead Summary

It’s not a good sign when only three girls get on the scoreboard, but that’s how many scored in a Turkey Valley loss to Central Tuesday.
Trojan senior Emily Busta scored more than half the Turkey Valley points as the girls lost a 36-28 battle on senior night. Busta came in with 17 points, Elli Winter finished with eight and Katlyn Baumler three points.
It was one of those nights there seemed to be a lid on the basket, sometimes for both teams. During the first five minutes of the third quarter, Turkey Valley held Central scoreless, but they didn’t score themselves during that period, either.
Busta scored two 3-point shots in the final minute of the third to thwart a Central shutout in that period and tie the score at 26.
In the fourth quarter Turkey Valley sent Central to the line repeatedly, where the Warriors missed repeatedly. They missed 11 free throws in the fourth, but made six, while the only Trojan points of the fourth quarter came on one Busta basket.
