Senior girls get fond sendoff on their night

Lead Summary

Isabel Leichtman is used to putting up big scoring numbers.
Earlier in the year against Oelwein, she finished with 26 points, and that figure ties a pair of Crestwood players for the high total of the season in the Northeast Iowa Conference.
So while her 17 points in a New Hampton 53-36 win over Oelwein Friday would be considered a fine effort by most players, she was a bit subdued after the game.
“We had to stay patient,” said Leichtman, one of the five seniors that were honored before the game. “We did a good job working inside and out. Sometimes it was there and sometimes it wasn’t. We had to stay positive, work together and stay aggressive.”
Of course, Leichtman drew a lot of attention from the Huskies after her performance earlier against Oelwein.
“She was frustrated. They had a box and one on her,” explained coach Chad Pemble. “They were trying to isolate her and she did a good job with it. Actually, I’m glad they did it because we think our first round opponent, Union, may do something along those lines.”
