Chickasaws achieve sweet repeat!

Lead Summary

The second time was just as nice as the first.
And New Hampton/Turkey Valley can now call itself the two-time defending Class 2A state dual-meet tournament champions.
The Chickasaws won five of the final seven bouts to erase a 21-14 deficit and beat Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 42-30 Wednesday night and claim that second straight title.
"I know we have work to do tomorrow," NH/TV coach Nick Hemann said, referring to the traditional state tournament, "but I want them to enjoy this, too. We had a tough, tough bracket but we beat, in my mind, the second, third and fourth best teams here."
The Chickasawa got early wins from Noah Glaser, Evan Rosonke and Areon Day, but the Cowboys rallied for three straight pins to take a 21-14 lead.
Carson Babcock started the NH/TV charge with a pin at 120, and Mason Cleveland's fall at 126 gave the Chickasaws a lead it would never relinquish..
After the Cowboys cut the deficit to 26-24, Hunter Pesek claimed a major decision at 138 and Michael Blockhus made it 36-24 with a pin at 145.
The Cowboys would close to within six before Cale Reicks, a Turkey Valley senior, wrapped up the title with a second period pin.
"Greatest feeling in the world," Reicks said. "To do it with this group of guys, it's been amazing."
