George Tripp dies at 61

George Tripp, age  61 of Elma, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017at Muse Norice Hospice in Mason City.

A Memorial Service for George will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, with Pastor Phillip Olson officiating, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.

George Robert Tripp was born August 13, 1955 to John and Wilma (Gibson) Tripp in Oelwein.  He attended Hawkeye Area Schools.  After completing his education George entered the US Army.  Upon his return home, he began his life long career in carpentry, working for Community Wholesales in Waterloo, for a number of years before becoming self-employed.  George farmed for a number of years and truly enjoyed the farm life.  He also loved working on classic cars and took great pride in his 1974 Jaguar. 

George is survived by his fiancé, Veronica McLaughlin of Elma; his children, Christopher (Brooke) Tripp of Owatonna, Minn., Adam (Amanda) Tripp of Harmony, Minn., Jacob Tripp of Castalia, Iowa, Lacey (Romero) Sanchez of North Carolina and Ben (Taby) Tripp of Granger, Minn.; nine grandchildren; his siblings, Jane (William) Powell of Chickamauga, Ga., Judy Tripp of Rochester, Minn., Bonnie Bird of Crestview, Fla., Norma (John) Schlegel of Niceville, Fla,, Charles (Coletta) Tripp of Bristow, Iowa, Verna (Cameron) Schrage of Waverly, Stella (Harry) Saenz of Amarillo, Texas, Timothy Tripp, Rebecca (Joseph) Beall of Sale City, Ga., Bobbi (Jamey) Burns of Hawkeye, Lyle Tripp of Coralville, and Elizabeth (Jay) Munz of Elkader, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Shirley, Michael, Peggy and Miles.
