Marilyn Claire Moldenhauer dies at 87
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg with Pastor Michael Christie presiding. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Iowa with Ted Steege, Bruce Steege, Linda Flick, Linda Heiselman, Susan Harada Bentley and Keith Nelson serving as pallbearers.
Friends may greet the family from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church prior to the service.
Marilyn was born July 31, 1930, in New Hampton, daughter of Florence Jaehrling and William Clair Upham. She was baptized in the Methodist Church and later became a member on April 1, 1945.
Marilyn married Ted Moldenhauer on June 7, 1953, at the United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg. She graduated from Fredericksburg High School and the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. Marilyn taught school in Fredericksburg and the surrounding area for many years. She and Ted were owners of Moldenhauer Oil Company for over 40 years.
Marilyn was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Home Study Club and Contract Bridge Club. She served on the board of the Upham Memorial Library for twenty-five years.
Marilyn enjoyed golf, gardening, playing cards and daily walks.
Survivors include three sisters, Grace Nelson, Carol Ann (Gary) Steege and Joan Cochran, all of Fredericksburg, a brother-in-law, Clair Rausch of Cedar Rapids and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away October 26, 2002, her parents, a sister, Joyce Rausch, a brother, Gerald Upham and a brother-in-law, Gene Nelson.
