Parts of New Hampton dealing with flooding

Several New Hampton streets were closed last Tuesday night after torrential rains caused flooding.Parts of Foley Avenue, North Pleasant Hill Avenue, East Prospect Street and East Main Street were closed after heavy thunderstorms moved through the area, beginning around 6:30 p.m.Several residents in the Foley Avenue and East Washington Street area said water had rapidly risen from about 4 inches Thursday afternoon to 4 to 5 feet by 11 p.m. Basements in the area were also flooded.Although the rain appeared to be moving away from New Hampton, the National Weather Service did issued a flood warning through 1 a.m. on Wednesday.— For more on this story, see the Aug. 26 Tribune
