P.E. teacher stresses importance of exercise

Lead Summary

For many individuals, exercising has been put on the back-burner due to the Coronavirus impacting daily life. However, New Hampton Elementary physical education teacher Brian Schmitt believes exercise should still be a priority for people, especially his students during this time.
“The importance of exercise is huge, it just makes you feel good once you are done. The motivation to start doing it at first can be tough, but the reward after is so worth it,” Schmitt said. “Students need to just find things they enjoy doing, and the exercise part follows it.”
With school being moved online for the remainder of the academic year beginning on March 16, Schmitt has continued to encourage his students to stay active. One way he has done this is by setting up a SeeSaw - a platform for student engagement -  for his elementary classes and a Google Classroom for middle school classes.
