‘Perfectionist’ Chickasaw girls romp at home tourney

Lead Summary

Here’s what New Hampton girls golf coach Eric Olson loves about his team … they’re never satisfied.
Take Saturday, for example.
On a perfect April day for golf, the sun wasn’t the only thing shining brightly as New Hampton fired a 332, just two strokes off its 18-hole school record, to beat runner-up Clear Lake by 41 strokes.
“We were real solid,” New Hampton coach Eric Olson said, “but when they came in, almost all of them said they left strokes out there on the course. Everyone thinks they can shoot better, and they are perfectionists … but they don’t take that putt they thought they should have made to the next hole. That, to me, is their secret.”
