Preparation pays off for TV at UIC meet

Lead Summary

The goal for Turkey Valley cross country coach Sarah Bakula since the start of the season has been to peak for the conference and district meets. The Trojans completed the first part of this objective last Thursday, as they ran some of their best times of the year at the Upper Iowa Conference meet at Guttenberg Golf Course.
“How workouts are planned and when recovery days happen are all to achieve the best times at the end of the year,” Bakula said. “Seeing so many athletes drop their time was great.”
There were a total of 45 girls who participated in the varsity competition. Jalyssa Blazek’s third place finish was best of any Trojan. Her time of 19:37 ranked just four seconds behind runner-up Haley Meyer from Kee.
