Race may be off but Running Club fundraiser continues

Lead Summary

The New Hampton Running Club has hosted a successful 5K each of the past four years. This year, they were excited to hold their fifth annual 5K run/walk on Saturday, April 4. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it has been called off.
This club was created four years ago because there were runners who wanted to join the New Hampton cross country team but were too young to participate in the sport. Chickasaw cross country coach Jamie Ohrt started this organization so these children had access to work out with the older athletes.
“I decided to start the New Hampton Running Club to get all ages excited about running and fitness year round,” Ohrt said. “We don’t have members or membership fees, but we have 35-plus participants. Alumni, seasoned runners and community members are all welcome.”
