Relays shine for Chickasaw girls

Lead Summary

Just one week after the Wartburg Invitational, the New Hampton girls track team found themselves back at Wartburg for the Northeast Iowa Conference Indoor meet on Tuesday. With far less teams at the event, more Chickasaws were able to shine throughout the night.
The lone first place for New Hampton was in the distance medley relay that consisted of Rachel Rinken, Laney Roberson, Claire Quirk, and Maddie Usher. With it neck and neck between the Chickasaws and Decorah heading into the final leg, Usher pulled away, as the relay finished with a time of 4:40.95.
“That was an event we knew we could compete well in because we have some strong distance kids and some strong sprinters,” New Hampton girls head track coach Jeanette Laures said. “We had high hopes for that event going into it.”
